The members of the Annie Walsh Old Girls’ Association (AWOGA) UK work towards, and aim for, the advancement of our alma mater, the Annie Walsh Memorial School, Freetown, Sierra Leone, and its pupils. We meet on the third Saturday of every month, although sometimes for practical reasons, meeting dates have to be rescheduled.
Among other events, we have a yearly Thanksgiving Service in March. Our main fundraising events are the Luncheon Sale in June, and formal Dinner/Buffet and Dance in November. With this year (2014) being a celebratory one for us, we will be hosting an Africana Evening for the first time this May.
All funds raised by the association go towards the provision of scholarships, particularly to disadvantaged pupils, and projects such as donating chairs, tables and other equipment are also undertaken.
